New Beginnings

I turned a year older this 29th December and started the New Year with gratitude to the Almighty for the opportunity to live another year, become wiser and gather new experiences.

“Some of the best days of our lives haven’t happened yet “

Year endings are new beginnings and times for introspection. Here I am sharing a few lessons I learnt during this journey and my vision for the year to come…

1. The importance of being self- content without depending too much on external factors. The right to keep my own happiness above everything else. Freedom from the thought of “char log kya kahenge” and live my life on my terms.

2. Being a typical type A personality, I am a meticulous planner with to do lists for everything and have a tendency to get anxious. I learnt that worrying over small things is a waste of time and energy. I learnt to reduce my anxiety and leave the things not in my control, to fate. I have become more Bindass and Badass.

3. I am basically an introvert who is averse to too much socializing. But over the years I have learnt the art of small talk and am trying to overcome my social anxiety. This year I spent more time in the public domain and I am enjoying it.

4. Many times we don’t realize the true value of a person till we lose them. We start taking them for granted and forget to tell them how precious they are. Life is too short. Tell your near and dear ones how much you love them before it’s too late.

5. I realized the value of friends in life with whom we can share our joys and sorrows and make wonderful memories. Spending time with like-minded people is a wonderful stress buster.

6. I learnt the value of ethics, moral values and compassion; how mindfulness and spirituality should be an integral part of our existence. Kindness and empathy is a prerequisite to become a better doctor and healer.

7."You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream” - C.S. Lewis

Being a typical Capricorn, I have an insatiable desire to outperform myself, to keep growing and achieving. I am looking forward to attaining new milestones in the coming year. I hope to become more academic and learn more about Pediatrics from my Gurus and stalwarts.

8. I want to be passionately curious, to ask questions and have that child-like quest to become an avid absorber of knowledge. Medicine, and life for that matter, is a constant process of learning and updating.

9. I want to overcome my fallacies and bias towards certain things. I can be prejudiced and judgemental about people without knowing them well. I wish to improve on that to become a better human.

10. A sound mental and physical health is the most valuable thing that can be attained. I hope to do regular exercise, practice mindful eating, pranayama and meditation more religiously in the coming year.

And finally, I realized that the things that give me most happiness are peaceful sleep, delicious food, company of loved ones and a little appreciation for a task well done.

So here’s to

New beginnings

New Hopes

New Aspirations

New Dreams

New Friendships

New Adventures

& New Experiences!

Cheers and best wishes for the coming year!!

  1. Well said dear!
Always aspire for 99% so that we have something more to reach for 100% ! After 100% it becomes plateau or downhill!
